Russian vine, also sometimes referred to as the ‘mile a minute plant’, is an species native to areas of Asia. After being introduced to the UK in the late 1800’s, it quickly made its way into the ‘wild’ and has since flourished as an invasive species.

As suggested by its Latin name, fallopia aubertii (baldschuanica), Russian vine is related to Japanese Knotweed (Fallopia japonica). This close relation is where Russian vine gets its incredible growing speeds, and other similar physical similarities.

Giant Hogweed - or to call it by its official name, Heraleum mantegazzianum - is an invasive species that can be found across various regions of the United Kingdom.

Compared to some other invasive species such as Japanese knotweed, giant hogweed doesn’t really get much time in the spotlight. However, that doesn’t mean that giant hogweed isn’t worth learning about, especially if you think there may be an infestation in your area.

Fallopia japonica – that’s Japanese knotweed to you and me – is a well known invasive plant that’s known for its rapid growth speed and difficulty to remove. Japanese knotweed can cause multiple problems for property owners, including making a home difficult to sell, mortgage, and insure.
